Jhansi: Police on Monday arrested the main accused in the grisly murder of a 33-year-old man, his second wife and their son for helping him dispose of the body.According to SSP Jhansi BBGTS Murthy, the main accused, Ram Singh Parihar, 63, retired as a senior technician from Indian Railways in 2022. He had two wives, both named Geeta. While the first wife lived in Nandanpura, the second lived near Saiyar Gate, part of the old walled city. He met Preeti Raikwar, 32, around a decade ago. Preeti, who was already married and had three children, lived in village Deli, which falls under Raksa police station.

The two met frequently and later started living together in a rented house in the Lehargird area. According to the main accused’s admission, Preeti started asking for money frequently and allegedly started meeting a retired army personnel who was also the owner of a beauty salon.Fed up with Preeti’s frequent demands for money and her relationship with another man, Ram Singh decided to eliminate her. He killed her on January 8 with an axe and then burnt her body inside a blue trunk. For this, he took help from his second wife and their 19-year-old son, Nitin. With their help, he brought a big blue trunk and two quintals of wood, with which he burnt the body inside the trunk.Earlier, he also tried to dispose of the body in a blue drum, which the police also recovered from the murder site. The idea was dropped after the deceased did not fit inside. Later, Ram Singh decided to dispose of the trunk, for which his son called a loader auto rickshaw to transport the blue trunk to their Saiyar Gate residence on Saturday, past midnight. The alertness of the auto driver, Jai Singh Pal, led him to sense something suspicious, and he alerted the police, after which the accused were caught.Police lodged a case against the accused under section 103 (1), 238 (a), and 61 (2)(a) of BNS on the application of Preeti’s first husband. Police will also get a DNA test done of the remaining fragments of the body.
