Jaipur: A 30-year-old man was injured after being shot at by a man with 26 criminal cases against him, in Gangapole area of the Walled City Monday morning. The incident occurred under Brahmpuri police station limits. The accused arrived on a motorcycle with an accomplice and opened fire before fleeing the spot, police said.The injured man, Bablu Mahawar (30), sustained a bullet injury to his right thigh. He was rushed to SMS Hospital, where doctors said his condition is stable.

Bablu was sitting outside his house at the time of the incident. A police officer said Bablu’s sister is scheduled to be married on Feb 6, and the family was in midst of wedding preparations when the sudden shooting occurred.Police identified the accused as Ravi Mehra (25), a history-sheeter with 26 cases against him. According to preliminary investigation, Ravi allegedly came with the intention of targeting Bablu’s cousin, Ajay. “Ajay moved aside at the last moment, and the bullet instead struck Bablu,” a police officer said, adding that Ravi fled.Bablu’s family members and a large number of local residents protested outside Brahmpuri police station. tnn
